A COMPANY HISTORY
|
|
Established on
October 1st, 1938 by Guy Cesar, CESAR VAN
AND STORAGE LIMITED quickly gained a reputation for
high quality moving and delivery services in the City of
Hamilton. Ownership of the company passed on to son-in-law, Gord Thompson and during his tenure, Cesar Van and Storage became one of the originating members of United Van Lines (Canada) Limited on February 22nd, 1957. The colour photograph to the right chronicles one of the modern milestones for Cesar Van and Storage. On May 26th, 1969 the company was purchased by current owner and president, Bill McCallum. Gord Thompson is shown on the left with Bill McCallum on the right with two distinctive Cesar trucks in the background. From a small fleet operation with an open warehouse, Cesar has evolved into a modern moving fleet with over 8,000 square feet of climate controlled storage. Many of the current vehicles have been specially modified for commercial relocations. The latest advance occurred in 1990 when Cesar Van and Storage became the Golden Horseshoe depot for Container Servicing through United Van Lines. Moving long distance in Canada via Container Service allows cost savings to the customer if storage is required. Finally, since United has joined the growing number of retailers offering AIR MILES, Cesar can pass on this advantage to its customers. |
